1. What is the theme of the story?
The theme of the story is that the government is in control of everything. The government wants everything to be the same, nobody is to be different.
2. What do you think Harrison’s rebellion reveals about his character and values?
Harrison wanted his freedom. He was willing to die for what he believed in. He wanted to show to everybody and the government that you can be different.
3. What conclusions can you draw about the society in which the characters live?
The society is dole and boring because there is nothing new to happen. The government is not letting anything happen different.
4. What do you think Vonnegut might be trying to say about today’s society and the role a government can play in achieving equality among people? At what point does the government go too far.
The government goes to far when we get into something that we are not in.
5. In what ways is there tension between equality and opportunity in our country?
No because I believe that everybody has an equal chance of getting a job they want they just need to work harder and not make bad decisions. Sometimes people don’t get the jobs they want because of their skin or background, that just means they need to work harder.
